Invisalign Treatment

Invisalign Treatment

This technique was invented in America at the beginning of 2000 and since then it has been widely spread all over the world. Treatment with this method is done by the patient using a series of invisible aligners made by taking high-precision digital measurements. Initial measurements, along with the personalised treatment plan as well as the patient’s initial photographs (5 intra oral and 3 extra oral) are sent electronically to the Align Technology laboratories. After a few days, the electronic 3D image of the teeth, the so-called Clinic Check, is sent electronically, showing the future dental movements. In this way, the patient knows before the treatment even begins what the final position of his teeth will be.

Once the orthodontist and the patient agree on the Invisalign treatment plan, the production process begins. Individual membranes must be worn 20-22 hours a day and replaced every week from week to week until the teeth move into their final positions. The number of aligners required for each patient varies according to the severity of the case. Usually the months required to complete the treatment range from 9 months for mild cases, to 18 for the most difficult cases.

The invisible aligners are made individually for each patient’s teeth, which are moved slowly, week by week, until they straighten and reach their final position. Using a virtual treatment plan created by special software, it is possible to monitor the sequence of movements that the teeth will make during treatment, which allows visualisation of the final result in advance. Invisalign treatment is an excellent orthodontic treatment, which can be applied to everyone and at all ages.

Invisalign treatment has many advantages such as:

  • Discretion.
  • Possibility of removal to follow the oral hygiene routine.
  • Prevention of irritation in the oral cavity.
  • Maintenance of the patient’s daily life.
